SO VERY BRITISH, MY DEAR!

Heating & Plumbing London creates British lifestyle accessories to keep you warm, dry & cosy. We love being playful with everything we do, including our name!

No matter what's going on in your busy life or how the weather might surprise you, our colourful designs and touchy-feely materials will bring back a smile to your face and a spring in your step.

The idea of the brand came about on a chilly day in November 2016, whilst strolling along the Thames.

The day turned out to be colder than expected and we started longing for a cosy fireplace, warm blankets and snug socks.

And, just as it began raining, a heating & plumbing van parked in front of us, and voilà: the brand was born.

THE FOUNDERS.

We are Brij & Franck. We are Heating & Plumbing London. We stumbled across each other in Manhattan back in 2001. A small disclaimer before we move on, that neither of us are really into fixing heaters or unblocking drains, but when we came across the name we fell in love with it.

Across many adventures and career changes, we finally put our heart and soul into creating Heating & Plumbing London. This way, Brij can indulge in his obsession of fine-looking accessories to his heart’s content.

Brij was born in India and grew up in England, and Franck is from Brittany in France. We come from two very unique places with a strong tradition of craft and we decided to make London our home.

Heating & Plumbing London was born out of our love for beautifully crafted, comfy & cosy products that have a life beyond one single use, fad or fashion, and as both of us are creatures of habit, we value things that gently fit into our daily routine and become part of our life. We are out to do the same for you with Heating & Plumbing London.

Longevity and everyday beauty define all our products, which are all lovingly made with the Planet in mind.

Always with the Planet in mind

Our Design studio is located in the vibrant and creative neighbourhood of Brixton in London. The full team bikes or walks to work and we try to keep things as local as possible. We are working with 3 artisan workshops (umbrella, leather, embroidery) a stone's throw away from our Design Studio and over 90% of our production is made in the British Isles.

We love British heritage and our collection is using traditional patterns with a twist. All our pure new wool blankets are manufactured in local traditional mills with which we have built long-standing relationships.

When it comes to the planet, local production is not always enough. The real challenge nowadays is producing less and producing durable accessories that will stand the test of time. We believe in consuming better. We realised that there are already tons of fabrics and wool already there and waiting to be recycled and upcycled.

A large part of this ready-to-be recycled materials are in Asia. Our initial philosophy was to give priority to local production, but with this fact in mind, we have started to think a bit further. As a young and small business, our course of action is limited, so we have worked hard to try and find a balanced solution.

We have decided to keep our production locally as much as we can and as far as it makes sense. This means, making umbrellas, leather straps and accessories and any new wool accessories in the British isles (pure new wool, merino, alpaca, cashmere), but start a process of using more and more recycled materials and have them upcycled by local communities where the raw material already is.

We are proudly part of Selfridges' Project Earth. This project meets our goals of being a modern and playful British luxury brand creating beautiful accessories made with the planet in mind.
