Wondering which of one of our lovely blankets is the warmest & cosiest?

by Franck Jehanne

Being too warm, or not warm enough is a very personal feeling.  The same goes with being cosy.  Some people like being cosy under a heavy blanket, some like being cosy with a soft light throw.

When developing our collection, we try and ensure that there is a selection for everyone's cosy needs.

So which one of our throws is the warmest or which one is the softest?  To help you decide on the material before you pick your favourite colour, have a read at our article below.

Touch is one of our 5 senses, so it is all very personal, of course, and always open to interpretation.

Our ranking in terms of softness:

Cashmere - Our 100% Cashmere collection if by far the softest.  Our yarn is spun in Italy and the throws are made in the British Isles.  The throw is perfect for those who like to be comfy and warm under a light-weight throw.  Cashmere is also very long lasting and as it has high moisture content it adapts to temperature changes easily.

Alpaca / Merino - These throws are a little weightier than the Cashmere blankets. The fibres are extremely fine and thin and the weave creates a nice soft touch.  As the Alpaca fibre is hollow it still has a lightness which makes the throw very comfortable for those who prefer their blankets to have a certain amount of lightness. If you like to be curled up with a throw that has breathable quality which will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, this would be the perfect option.

Merino - The 100% merino lambswool is a soft, strong yarn making it ideal for home throws.  Though just a little less soft than the Alpaca / Merino blend.  The Merino wool is known for being the softest and finest of any sheep wool and it is fantastic at temperature regulation.  The wool comes from sheep bred solely for their wool, mainly from New Zealand & Australia.

Pure New Wool - Hugely popular with our customers, our wool blankets are traditionally woven. The touch of sheep wool is very distinctive and some of our customers prefer the softer feel of merino or cashmere.  Our 100% pure new wool throws are finished with a little extra brushing that gives them special softness.  The “pure” means that the wool is not blended with other fibres and the “new” refers to the fact that the wool is coming directly from living sheep and have not been woven, treated or processed previously.

Recycled wool -  Woven from 50% pure new wool and 50% recycled wool, this is a blanket with a little more weight and also a little less softness as 50% of the wool used in the blanket has been reclaimed and repurposed.  We love them as they are perfect as rustic home companions and do a little bit more for the planet. Discover our Recycled Wool Throw

Selecting a throw based on softness is a very personal choice and always open to interpretation.  Regardless of which option you decide to go with, rest assured that we pay attention to  the quality  of materials  we use with close attention to detail in our production and only work with mills located in the British Isles.
